I love drawing as it's something I'd like to do as long as I have time. Any feedback/comments/critiques from anyone are welcome. ------------------------------- I think art and maths are similar. They both abstract out a "model" out of complicated stuff. Objects in real life are complicated, art uses lines shapes and fewer color blocks to summarize them into general shape that when people look at it they know that's a dog that's a person. it's not a specific individual but it fits for many individuals. and there are icons, they are the highly abstract art of specific categories. They also both turn abstract concepts that people normally can't see into something visible and solid. Like some art in the galleries (I could never understand them tbh) express artists' abstract thoughts and feelings with colors. And in maths you can express and calculate N dimensional space, even though living in a 3 dimensional world, we can never imagine what a N dimensional world looks like. Although mathematical modeling people don't like and try to avoid overfitting, a more general applicable model is more preferred for it's predictive power, (mostly talking about generalized linear models, possibly there are other models aren't like this I'm not aware of). but there are art like portraits etc. no one going to complain about how realistic it can be and "overfitting" never an issue. so I see there are some small differences.
