Wish You Were Here

Departure

This series is about my thoughts of the album "Wish You Were Here", I create them all included a elegent famale which is conform to my art style. let talking about each works: "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5)" Just as the song describes, this is the rise of a genius who sees the world through diamonds; she is so different from others. But her differences also foreshadowed her later downfall. "Welcome to the Machine" In this painting, I used the element of a mechanical watch as a symbol of capitalism and consumerism. The character's face, shrouded in shadow, symbolizes her numb heart. "Have a Cigar" First of all, I hate smoking, especially smoking in public. So the connection between this painting and the song isn't the primary factor. I'm condemning those who appear glamorous on the surface but are corrupt underneath. "Wish You Were Here" This painting represents the emotional absence between people. I referenced the album cover for this painting. It depicts two people shaking hands, but one of them is already tired of the relationship, yet still extends his hand in response. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (6-9)" This painting symbolizes the fall of a genius. It is also the last in this series. I used Rembrandt lighting and a great deal of blurring to depict the feeling of fragmentation.
